PTW Aftershock – May 9th, 2010

Pictures I took at Prime Time Wrestling’s Aftershock show where Petey Williams won the title from Robert Roode. Big thanks to DJ for resizing the pictures for me!

So I’ve been doing some major updating to the gallery. I’ve had to re-add just about the whole gallery to show thumbnails because apparently doing it by URL doesn’t work. I’ll be working on the gallery for the next few days hoping to get everything I have added to the gallery. I’ve added 11 photos to the gallery from Pure Pro Wrestling’s Retroslam 2 show where Petey became PPW Franchise Champion after beating Chris Korvis.

 Pure Pro Wrestling is proud to announce that for the second month in a row FORMER TNA X DIVISION CHAMPION & New PPW Franchise Champion “Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams is WRESTLER OF THE MONTH for April. Since the signing of Williams only three short months ago, Williams has sky rocketed to the top of the PPW food chain by winning the Elite 8 and defeating the once seemingly invincible Chris Korvis for the Franchise Championship; a title that Korvis held for nearly a year and a half. Since Williams career began he has constantly dazzled wrestling fans with his natural ability, textbook fundamentals, and of course, the most devastating finishing maneuver ever created in the history of pro wrestling; the Canadian Destroyer. Now that Williams is a fully fledged member of the PPW roster and has achieved champion status, Williams looks to a future full of exciting title defenses in front of the PPW fans that he has grown to love. PPW’s Matt Burns caught up with the newly crowned Franchise Champ just moments after his historic victory over the longest reigning Franchise Champion in history; Chris Korvis.

“Beating Korvis at Retroslam is an amazing feeling. I can’t even begin to describe how good I feel after winning this title. Korvis is tough as nails, and there was many times when I felt my back against the wall, but I just kept digging down and when I finally got my opportunity I went for the kill. Now you’re looking at the new Franchise Champion! I’m excited and very proud to be holding this prestigious championship and I look forward to breaking Korvis’ record as the longest reigning and most defending champion that PPW has ever seen.” Williams said.

The Wrestler of the Month for March is none other than former TNA X Division champion “Maple Leaf Muscle” Petey Williams. Upon the news of PPW most historic acquisition from pro wrestling’s proverbial free agent list, Williams immediately sought out PPW officials to become an official entry in this year’s Elite 8 Tournament. The rest is history.
Petey Williams defeated “the Man of Value” Jeff Brookes, “Grizzly” House Jones, 2009 Elite 8 Winner REV. Christopher Saint, and breakout star Ty Darious to become the 2010 Elite 8 champion thus cementing his spot at RESTROSLAM 2 where he’ll face off against the longest reigning Franchise Champion in PPW history, “the Franchise Player” Chris Korvis. Money, fame, glory, and the coveted Pure Pro Wrestling Franchise Championship will all be on the line as these two megastars collide for the most anticipated matchup that Pure Pro Wrestling has ever seen.
Upon being notified that Williams had been selected to be Wrestler of the Month, PPW’s Matt Burns caught up with the new number one contender and he had this to say.
“It’s a real honor to be selected as the Wrestler of the month for March. There’s a lot of great talent in this locker room and for me to be selected right out the gate is a testament to just how difficult it is to win the Elite 8. I’m just excited to be here competing with world class athletes and I look forward to seeing if the hype about Korvis is true. Like I’ve stated in the past, I’ve seen the highlight reels, watched the game footage, and I’m aware of what a man like Korvis is capable of in and even outside of the ring. But I will say this, Korvis has never went toe to toe with the Definition of Definition. Chris Korvis has never felt the effect of the Canadian Destroyer. Chris Korvis has never faced the caliber of talent that I am. Korvis if you’re paying attention I’ve got a message from you. You can run your mouth all you want, but when I hook up the Canadian Destroyer on you the only words coming out of your mouth are going to be “help me.” Korvis on Friday, March 26 I’m coming for you and that belt. I’m coming to prove to the PPW fans that there is no hype about Petey Williams. Fans are going to see that Petey Williams is the truth. And when the dust settles and it’s all said and done I will have my hand raised in victory and I will be the new Franchise Champion. It’s not a prediction, it’s not even wishful thinking; it’s a cold, hard fact. Chris Korvis I’m a heat seeking missile of pain and I’m coming for you!”

I’m going to start off by saying I’m still REALLY sore after going though Petey’s clinic on Saturday. It was great fun and learned a lot and then both Jen and I stuck around to see our teacher in action in the Main Event. The Main Event was scheduled for Petey Williams vs. Zach Gowen but earlier in the show Petey made his way to the ring to have a little talk with X-Plicit Xavier Justice. Petey ripped on everything American and Zach Gowen. This brought out Jeff Brooks and Zach Gowen for a little war of the words. Petey said the only thing Zach had over him was a better parking spot because of his handicap sticker. Let’s just say the Main Event is now a Tag-Team Match.
